2. C18. 2 storey plastered brick house with steep pitched tiled roof and 2 hipped dormers. Brick chimney stacks of various dates. Depressed arch over carriageway left of centre; heavily panelled gates, 4 raised and fielded panels each. Four 3 light sash windows to the 1st floor. South end, No 47, has Bank front on ground floor. North end, No 49, is the White Horse Inn. One 3 light sash window and a late doorway. Heavy wooden post and bracket for sign. Extensive range of outbuildings at rear in White Horse Yard. 2 storey extensions in 2 builds behind the Inn with high tiled roofs. 1 window in each part, with some old leads retained on 1st floor of cottage to south-west. Further outbuildings continue to 1A Market Square and face cobbled yard at rear of No 51 High Street.

Nos 23 to 49 (odd) High Street including No 25A form a group of which Nos 29 to 37 (odd) are of local interest only.
