RABY WITH KEVERSTONE A 688 NZ 12 SW (North side) 9/76 Keverstone Grange farmhouse with 5.8.87 outbuildings attached
GV II
Raby estate agent's house, now farmhouse, with outbuildings. Late C18 with mid C19 alterations and additions. Rendered sandstone rubble with plinth and ashlar dressings; some bricks at rear; Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings. Double-span plan, with rear wing extending to outbuildings to form small yard. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with small one-storey, one-bay right extension. Removed steps with older lower swept bottom step to central 6-panel door and patterned overlight in architrave; flanking corniced bow windows have curved glass in sashes; 3 first-floor late C19 sashes have wedge stone lintels and projections stone sills; similar window in right extension. Ashlar gutter cornice. Moulded kneelers; banded end chimneys. Left return has horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars; moulded hopper to valley between ridges. Rear had chamfered stone pier supporting one-bay projection containing sash with glazing bars. Wing running back from this has return with paired Gothic-traceried sashes and doors with wide boards to outbuildings.
