Pair of attached houses, now one house. Circa late C17 - early C18, with alterations
and additions of mid C19 and some C20 alterations. Granite rubble. Slate roof with
ridge tiles and gable ends; gable end stack with brick shaft to right, axial stack to
left in granite with shaped top and cornice.
Plan: Pair of attached houses; possibly originally one house. House to right of one-
room plan, with porch entrance directly into the room, heated by gable end stack to
right. House to left of 2-room plan, main room heated from the axial stack with
porch entrance directly into the room; small unheated room divided by stud partition
wall to left. Stable attached to left and smaller stable attached to left end.
Exterior: 2 storeys, all the same roof level; the 2 houses form an asymmetrical 3-
window front, all C20 casements. House to right has gabled stone and brick porch
with half-glazed door; 2-light casement to right and at first floor. House to left
has stone rubble porch with pitched roof and stone bench to left, half-glazed door;
2-light casement to right and left and two 2-light casements at first floor. First
floor stone string course. Straight joint to the stable to left, with central plain
door with strap hinges, ventilation slit to right and left, with C20 window above
replacing a loading door. Granite quoins and straight joint to left, to end stable,
with stable door with strap hinges. C20 light to right. Right side has 2-light
casement at ground and first floor to right. Rear of the house to right is blind.
Rear of the house to left has 6-pane light to right at ground and first floor, and 6-
pane light to stair. Stable built into the back at the rear, with stone steps
leading to a double door with pentice hood, ventilation slit at ground floor to right
and left. The end stable has a C20 light to the left.
Interior: Not fully accessible. The house to left has main room with C19 ceiling
joists; the axial stack has a fireplace with roughly hewn granite jambs and lintel.
