12.7.1967 Nos 1-4. Old Hall Cottages
GV II
Terrace of four cottages. c1840s and late C19. Coursed limestone with gritstone
dressings and quoins. Plain tile roof, hipped to west. Three stone ridge stacks,
one stone gable end stack and one stone side wall stack. Two storeys, six window
front, one, three bay, and three, single bay, cottages. Easternmost cottage a later
addition with punched stone dressings and quoins. Quoined doorcase to west,
Glazing bar sash to east. Similar above. Central one of three remaining cottages,
three bay. Central flush, quoined, doorcase. C20 glazed and panelled door.
Bracketed stone hood over. To either side, glazing bar sashes with slightly
chamfered surrounds. Continuous Tudor style dripmould over door and windows. Three
similar windows above. To west, cottage with flush jambs, lintel and bracketed stone
hood over C20 door with rectangular fanlight. To west, similar glazing bar sash to
central cottage. Tudor style dripmould over door and window. Similar window above.
Fourth cottage, similar except reversed and dripmould only over window. Included
for group value only.
