Details
SENNEN SW 32 NE 4/326 Barns at approximately 30 metres - east south east of Trevear Farmhouse GV II Barns, probably granaries and haylofts over shippons and stables. Circa mid C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Scantle slate roofs. Tallest barn has gable ends, next tallest has hipped roof and other barn has half-hipped roof. Plan: Irregular approximately U-shaped plan. 2 barns adjoin in line, the lower barn wider; another barn is parallel and is linked to the higher of the 2 barns by a first floor loft with open shelter under. Exterior: 2 storeys. Virtually unaltered elevations. Tall barn is probably the oldest of the group. Its north front has central first floor loading doorway (with reused C17 chamfered lintel) and 2 slit ventilators at either side. There is a ground floor doorway towards the right. Rear has first floor loading doorway near the angle with the link building. Adjoining low barn has single storey integral outshut at front and rear with loft to the central portion only. Front and rear elevations each have a central doorway and a window at left and right. East end wall has central doorway (with loft window over) and doorway at left and right for access to the outshuts. North front of other barn has 3 ground floor doorways. East end has altered ground floor openings and original central loading doorway over. Interior not inspected.
