SK 36 SE TOWN OF CLAY CROSS HOLMGATE ROAD 2/27 (South Side) Ashmore House II
Farmhouse. 1675, refronted early C19. Coursed sandstone rubble with coursed squared sandstone facade. Sandstone dressings. C20 concrete tile roof and lower slate roof. Moulded stone copings and kneelers to gables. Stone gable end stacks. Two storeys with single storey, stone slated addition to south. Three bays. Flush doorcase with C19 panelled door. To north, two glazing bar sashes in raised plain surrounds, that to the south smaller. Similar large sash to south. Above, three irregularly placed glazing bar sashes in similar surrounds. To south gable wall blocked doorcase with stone plaque over inscribed'FTM 1675'. Also single bay addition with recessed and chamfered single light windows to east and west. Rear elevation has two 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows both containing some original glass in diamond leaded lights.
