School and school house. 1866-8 by Samuel Rollinson of Chesterfield. Coursed squared rock-faced limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Banded blue fish- scale and red plain tile roof with stone ridge stacks and simple gabled bellcote to western gable. Also tiny ventilation gablets. Two storey L-plan house to east with attached single storey six bay school with advanced western bay. House; east elevation has projecting porch with four-centred arched doorcase, C20 door and plain overlight. To south, advanced bay with central 3-light chamfered mullion window with plain sashes, and to north, single light chamfered window, also with plain sash. Above door small Caernarvon headed window, similar 2-light window to that below in southern bay. North gable wall has 2-light chamfered mullion window with plain sashes and similar over. Attached to west, school with chamfered Caernarvon headed doorcase with quatrefoil window directly over. To west, two triple trefoil headed chamfered lancets with similar double lancets to either side. In angle similar triple lancets and to western bay four stepped chamfered trefoil headed lancets under relieving arch. Above, small trefoil window. Beyond, lean-to with twin trefoil headed lancets. Fixed and casement metal windows. Included for group value only.
