Details
SANCREED SW 42 NW 5/273 Higher Drift Cottage including - front garden walls and gate-piers GV II Farmhouse, including front garden walls and gate-piers. Probably C18. Painted granite rubble with granite dressings. Asbestos slate roof except for outshut (rear towards left) which has a scantle slate roof. Large rubble stack over the left-hand gable end, brick chimney over the right-hand gable end. Plan: 3-room-plan house plus pantry outshut at the rear towards the left and a shippon outshut behind the right-hand side. Large kitchen/living room on the left; entrance hall with stair at the rear on the left and with an unheated room (probably a pantry) at the rear on the right, and parlour on the right (on lower ground). Exterior: Low 2-storey west front with first floor windows rising over eaves level under raking dormer. C20 door, C20 4-pane horned sashes. Original or C18 window and doorway openings spanned by granite lintels. Interior: Simple interior has 3 C18 2-panel doors on the ground floor and plank and muntin partitions to the middle room. First floor and roof structure not inspected.
