Pair of attached houses ; No. 1 with shop inserted, now 2 houses. Late C18, with
alterations for shop of early C19, with alterations of C19 and C20. Painted
slatestone rubble. Asbestos slate roof with gable ends. Gable end stacks with
rendered shafts.
Plan: Pair of attached houses with No. 1 to left and No. 2 to right. No. 1 is of
double depth plan, with one room to front and one to rear. No. 2 also has one room
to front and rear, but has a wider frontage. In circa early C19, No. 1 had a shop
inserted in the front room.
Exterior: 3 storeys, asymmetrical front. No. 1 has central C20 door with fluted
pilasters and blocked overlight. Bowed early C19 24-pane shop window to right and
left with pilasters to sides and fascia over, with pitched slates above the fascia.
First floor has C19 16-pane sash with splayed stone head, C20 metal-framed window at
second floor.
No. 2 has ground floor half-glazed C20 door and C20 3-light casement, fascia over
continuous with the fascia to No. 1. Two C20 metal-framed windows at first and
second floors. Right side blind. Left side in rubble, with C20 door to right. At
upper level at single storey addition to left ; the houses are built into the bank at
the rear.
Interior: Not inspected.
