Details

SP 93 SW ASPLEY HEATH 2/31 30.1.85 Meadow Springs (formerly listed as Longslade Cottage) - II Bedford Estate cottage in isolated rural setting. Later C19. Light timber framing with brick infill, some panels in herringbone pattern. Red brick to part of rear elevation. C20 tile roofs. Irregular cruciform plan, one storey and attics. Gable end of southern wing has central enclosed porch with slightly sloping hood flanked by moulded drop finials. Jettied tile- hung upper storey has central canted oriel window with sloping hood. W wing gable end has rectangular bay with sloping hood to ground floor and 2 casements to upper floor. E wing gable end has open gabled porch of rustic log-work with tiled roof. Attic storey has casement window. Most windows are casements with honeycomb leading. 2 gabled dormers, that to S elevation projecting slightly on timber brackets. 2 plank doors, 2 part-glazed doors. Gables have plain bargeboards with finials. 3 red brick multiple chimney stacks, one to ridge, one to roof slope, one external.
