Noah's Ark

II

Detached house, now 3 occupations. Possibly late C17 but much modified in C19 and
C20. Rubble, double roman tile roof coped verges to original block. Rectangular
probably through passage original building with later wing back left, lean-to to
right gable, and wing at back parallel with original building: this wing and the
back wing, No 91 not of special interest. Main front is a lofty 2-storeys and
attic, near symmetrical front. Ground floor has 4-light casement to voussoir head,
left and similar C20, right; at first floor two 3-light casements, both to cambered
heads. Two lay-lights to roof. Plank doors centre and far right, each to C19
gabled hood; lean-to right over plank door. Right return has single light in stone
surround to attic. Left return has 2-light casement at ground floor on a small
2-light to attic. On the front of the building at first floor is a painted Noah's
Ark sign - presumably indicating a former inn - and a date of 1660. Interior not
inspected, but may be of interest.
