Details
COLAN SX 86 SE 6/29 The Glebe - GV II
Vicarage, now house. Late C18 - early C19, with addition of later C19 and some later alterations. Stone rubble; the front painted and slate-hung, rest rendered. Front range has hipped slurried scantle slate roof with ridge tiles. Stacks to sides with brick shafts. Rear wing has similar roof with gable end and truncated stack. Plan: Double depth plan, with a 2-span roof over the front and rear rooms ; principal room to front right and left, each heated from a stack at the side, with central entrance. Shallow rear service rooms and stair to rear centre. One-room plan service wing added to rear right, heated from a gable end stack. Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front. First floor has two C19 4-pane sashes and central plate-glass sash. Ground floor has central half-glazed door with pediment, C20 French window to right and left. Left end slate-hung. Rear range in painted rubble with 2-light casement at cellar level, and at ground and first floor. Right side has C20 window at ground and first floor in the rear range. The rear wing has C20 window at ground floor and two C20 windows at first floor ; small single storey C20 lean-to. At the rear, cellar to right with single storey brick lean-to with scantle slate roof ; tall 39-pane window lighting the stair. The rear wing has a stack on the inner side, heating the first floor room ; ground floor C20 window. The gable end has external stack with curved oven a the base. Upper level has pointed arched door. Interior: Rear of entrance hall has half-glazed Gothic door. Room to front right has good Gothic chimneypiece. Not fully accessible.
