Details
ST BURYAN SW 42 SW 8/47 Dorminack - GV II Small house. Circa early C18. Granite rubble with granite moorstone dressings. Corrugated asbestos roof. Tall granite ashlar stack over the right-hand gable end. Plan: Originally probably 2 rooms (now 1 room) the kitchen/living room on the right and parlour on the left. Behind the kitchen is an integral outshut probably originally for stair and a pantry. Over the front rooms there were originally chambers mostly in the roof space, but the floor has been removed and it is now single storey. Exterior: Low front with evidence for small upper floor windows, now single storey. Nearly symmetical 2 window front with doorway slightly left of middle and small window openings at left and right. C20 door and windows. 12-pane 2-light casement at right-hand end and rear. Interior: Simple interior has large granite fireplace with domed granite oven behind its right-hand jamb. The Falmouth estate at Tregothnan is reputed to possess records of a croft having been established here in (1704?) according to the tenant, Mr. D. Tangye.
