II

Entrance gateway belonging to the Manor House. Earlier C19. Cast iron piers and railings on colourwashed rendered masonry plinth. Wrought iron gates. Symmetrical. Consists of 2 outer piers, linked to inner piers by convex stretch of railings approximately 3 metres lung. Inner piers linked by double gates. Approximately 1.5 metres at highest point. Outer piers are square in section, solid, with recessed rectangular panels, and surmounted by moulded cornice with embattled parapet. Inner piers are octagonal in section, hollow, with pierced traceried panels, and surmounted by moulded cornice and embattled parapet. Each inner pier has small moulded panel showing 2 gauntlets clasping a ring, surrounded by a buckled strap inscribed with the motto "sans changer". Plain railings with poppyhead finials. Gates have panels of scrollwork decoration to top and bottom.
