ST EWE SW 94 NE 1/22 Stables about 15 metres north of Levalsa Farmhouse 11.1.88 GV II

Stables. Circa early C18; addition of circa mid C19, with few later alterations. Squared granite rubble. Hipped slate roof. The upper level of the stable is in rendered cob. The addition at the right end is in slatestone rubble with hipped scantle slate roof. Plan: Stable with loft at first floor; built into the bank at the rear and access to the loft from the external stair at the left end. The C18 stable is to left, with the addition of C19 at the right end. The loft contains a pigeon loft. Exterior: The original stable is 2-storey, an asymmetrical front. At ground floor there is one door, two windows, door and window, all with cambered stone arches. At first floor there are three window openings, all formerly with 2-light windows, with a row of square pigeon holes with slate perches between the window openings. The C19 addition is to right, with one small window opening at the front. The right end is blind. The left end has an external stair leading to a blocked loading door to the loft. At the rear, the C18 stable has two window openings and one doorway. The C19 addition has one plank door. Interior: Not inspected.
