UFTON NERVET CHURCH LANE (north side) SU 66 NW 3/4 Remaining Wall Of The Church Of St. John Baptist At SU 6251 6827 G.V. II Former west wall of church probably Medieval. Approximately 5 metres long and 5 metres tall. Uncoursed flint and tile with red brick plinth and dressings. The church of St. John Baptist was the parish church of Ufton Richard. In 1434-5 the parishes of Ufton Richard and Ufton Robert were united, the Church of St. John Baptist becoming a Chapel dependent on the Church of St. Peter. After becoming cottages it was eventually demolished in 1886. V.C.H. (Berks), Vol.3, pp.1443-4; B.O.E. (Berks), p.246.
