4/9 Old School House and The Firs

Pair of attached houses. Mid C18, incorporating some earlier building to rear,
with C20 alterations. Rubble, rendered, slate roofs with gable stacks, pantiled
roofs to rear. Rear wings form U-plan. Old School House (to left) of 2 storeys
and 2 windows, all sashes in raised architraves with cills, round-headed architrave
to door to left, 4-panelled and glazed door with blocked fanlight, render lined
out, raised long and short quoins, eaves on corbels. The Firs (to right) of
2 storeys and 2 windows, as at Old School House except 2 windows at ground floor
instead of one, 6-panelled door to left with decorative leading in fanlight, plain
render and similar quoins. Left return has 2-light C20 casement at ground floor
right, door to left and single light at first floor. Right return has roof
hipped to right, single storey lean-to in angle with rear wing, 2-light casement
at first floor left. Rear of Old School House has 2-storey C18 wing forming
2-span roof, C20 window, single storey C20 addition; single storey lean-to
between wings with two 2-light casements; rear of The Firs has two 2-light
casements at ground and first floor, single storey lean-to to left with C20 door.
