The original brewhouse and laundry to Heath Hall (q.v.), now 2 dwellings.
c1753 by John Carr for John Smyth, restored and converted 1982-84 to designs
by Dickinson England (Wakefield). Hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings,
stone slate roof. Classical. H-shaped. 2 storeys. 7 x 5 bay symmetrical
facades. Quoins. Continuous plinth and sill bands. North-west facade, facing
Heath Hall (q.v.): central 3 bays break forward and have tall semicircular-arched
entrance with massive parabolic-arched vault leading through to rear; continuous
impost band; windows have 12-pane sashes with 6-pane sashes above, flanking bays
have a sash window with plaque above; pedimented gable with dentils surmounted by
clock tower with engaged Tuscan columns to corners and circular recess for clock
with arched cornice, the whole topped by circular open rotunda with Tuscan columns
and bell-shaped cap surmounted by ball finial. Bays 2 and 6 each have sash windows
with plain stone surrounds (originally blind). Outer projecting bays each have a
recessed archway in which is set a similar sash window to each floor. Dentil cornice
entirely restored c1984 to the Brewhouse. Hipped roof. 2 ridge stacks, c1984
copies of the original stacks on the West pavilion. Rear similarly fenestrated
but with semicircular-arched niches in bays 3 and 5 to ground floor the voussoirs
aligned to the courses. Right-hand return fronts the Common, has central 3 bays
breaking forward under pedimented gable, and niches with plaques above either side
of recessed archway in which are sash windows the same as outer 2 bays with plain
stone surrounds.

Interiors remodelled largely with new roof structure.
