Farmhouse, subsequently two cottages. Mid C17, altered. Handmade red brick in stretcher bond, stone slate roof with chimney of modern brick. U-plan: lobby-entry hall range with integral cross-wing to the right, separately-roofed cross-wing to left, outshut to rear. Two storeys; porch in angle with right wing has depressed-arched chamfered outer doorway, over this a large rectangular sandstone panel with heavily worn carving (see RCHM for former details), a stepped parapet, and in the left side a recessed window with hollow-moulded brick surround; at first floor above the porch, a similar window with rendered surround; to the left, a large altered window on each floor, and left of each another small window, the upper altered; ridge chimney of diagonal flues. Re-entrant of left wing has similar small window with hollow moulded surround, gable of this wing has modern enlarged window on each floor the upper with a stone dripband over it; gable of right wing has large inserted casement on each floor. Return wall of this wing has inter alia a six-light window with mullions and transom of rendered brick.
Rear: catslide roof carried down to single-storey height.
Interior: contains a complete Jacobean staircase, single flight return with turned balusters and square newels topped with finials. Two important plaster ceilings survive. Much timber framing is visible including evidence of a possible aisled hall. This hall also contains an inglenook with chamfered bressemer and stone flagged floor. Two brick four-centred arched fireplaces survive. The house retains many of its original doors as well as much of its original roof structure.
