BUTTERLEY (New Mill)

Former large detached house now two houses, part of group. Dated 1742. Ashlar with rusticated quoins. Stone slate roof with gable copings on moulded kneelers with scroll pattern. Three ashlar stacks, two with mouldings. Two storeys and attic. The two dwellings form an L-shaped plan, and each has three bay symmetrical facade.

No 21 has sashes with slightly moulded surround and false keystone. Central door with very decorative head and small cornice.

No 31 has sashes and casements and central door with shaped lintel inscribed: IK 1742 Recent single light to right of door.
