Town Hall in English Free Style. 1890-2 by Mawson & Hudson of Bradford. Ashlar facade and return bays. Slate roof. Two storeys and attics to facade. Three storeys and basement, due to sloping site, to side elevations. To front, gabled wing to left and right, and 2 central bays one of which has entrance above which is square clock tower. The entrance is reached by flight of stone steps flanked by low wall with ornamental piers. The round arched doorway is flanked by ornate pilasters and has elaborately carved frieze. Clock face to 3 sides of tower which has slated roof with round arched gabled dormer openings and is surmounted by copper domed lantern. The gabled wing to left has 1st floor canted oriel bay with Ipswich window, above which is balcony with round arched balustrade. Cartouche in gable apex. The right wing has shaped gable with ball and stalk finials. Paired round arched attic windows have balcony with round arched balustrade supported on 2 large console brackets. Ground and 1st floor windows both have elaborately carved central panel above. Left return bay has 2-storey canted bay. Right return bay has stepped staircase window, and Ipswich window to 1st floor with Dutch gable above. 8 bays of 3-light chamfered mullioned windows, and final bay surmounted by Dutch gable, forms right side elevation.
