Mill at Low Bridge
GV II
Cotton mill, now timber mill. Early C19, several builds. Coursed millstone grit, stone slate and Welsh slate roofs. West front (to river): left-hand portion, late C18: 3 storeys with basement, 10 lst-floor windows. Basement treated as plinth and has one small arched opening, one large arched opening now blinded, a doorway and 4 square openings all with plain stone surrounds. Windows to ground and 1st floors have flush stone cills and lintels. Hipped roof with skylights. At right corner a low chimney on square corniced base, stone heads at bottom of shaft. Right-hand portion, early C19: 2 storeys with basement, 6 lst-floor windows. Basement has doorway, 2 windows and one blinded arched opening. Welsh slate roof. East front to yard: 1st floor taking-in doors have plain stone surrounds with interrupted jambs. Interior of earlier part: cast-iron and timber columns support large-scantling timber beams.
