2/40 Barn, dated 1783 and attached cowhouse and granary, 200 metres south-west of Farfield Hall
GV II
Barn and attached cowhouse and granary. Cowhouse late C17, granary to left C18, barn to right initialled and dated "IMM"(Myers family). 1783 Forms a long range under one roof. Rubble brought to course, ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. Granary has quoins and 2 narrow long ventilators with plain stone surrounds, sashed window over with, to right, taking-in-door with monolithic jambs. Cowhouse: Quoins to left. Central doorway with composite jambs and basket-arched lintel has chamfered surround. Later doorways either side. 2 pitching holes under eaves. Barn breaks forward and has quoined angle. Segmental- arched cart entry with expressed keystone bearing date, composite jambs. Rectangular ventilators with arched heads to either side. Coped gables with kneelers.
Interiors: Cowhouse has hayloft with 3 bays of oak king-post trusses with single struts and convex braces to ridge. Barn of 4 bays with oak queen-post truss surmounted by fish-bone king-post and with side angle struts.
