Folly. Mid-late C18. Attributed to John Carr (Wragg; Jones, p90) but clearly shown on an engraving of c1730. For the Wentworth estate. Ashlar sandstone. Tall, square pyramid pierced, on the axis of a former avenue to Wentworth Park North Lodge (q.v.), by a narrow, ogee carriage arch. Plinth, impost band, moulded voussoirs (partly renewed). At apex a square plinth to an elaborate vase entwined with foliage.
