BENTLEY WITH ARKSEY HIGH STREET SE 50 NE (west side), Arksey
7/55 No 29 and No 35 10.9.59 - II S Pair of houses. C17, No 35 dated 'R E / 1667'. Coursed rubble limestone, stone slate eaves course to pantile roofs. South front: 2 storeys, 3 : 3 windows to 1st floor, No 35 on right, larger and set forward, has large quoins and doorway on left with chamfered, quoined surround and deep lintel; to right are two 3-light double-chamfered, mullioned windows with similar 2-light windows over and single-light window over door. Rebuilt brick ridge stack on left. Rear of No 35: doorway on left with chamfered, quoined surround and dated lintel; flanking single-light double-chamfered windows and later windows on right; blocked mid-height window on right has iron stanchion; 2 double-chamfered, 2-light windows to 1st floor. Right return of No 35: 3-light double-chamfered mullioned window with dripstone to 1st floor; blocked single-light gable window. No 29 on left: windows of 3, 1 and 3 lights to ground floor and of 2, 1 and 2 lights above, all originally as those of No 35 but some altered; lower ridge with brick end stack on left.
