Town Well
II
Town well, given in 1897. Sandstone with leaded ogee dome with lion finial. Octagonal
Tuscan columns on high pedestals supporting dentilled cornice. Brass head water spout
and stone basin. Inscribed as follows:- '1837 VR 1897. To commemorate 60 years of the
reign of Queen Victoria. This artesian well and building were given to the inhabitants
of Helperby by James Coates. 30th June 1897. God Save the Queen'.
