KIRKLINGION THE GREEN SE 38 SW (west side) 6/26 The Old Rectory
GV II
House. Early C18, altered in the early C19. Rendered with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Central half-glazed double doors with margin lights and 3-pane overlight in surround of pilasters and cornice. To its right is a full-height canted bay with sashes with glazing bars, apart from ground-floor front which has a French window with margin lights. Right-hand bay has a French window with margin lights flanked by tall 8-pane sashes, all set in pilastered surround with cornice. All other windows, ie 2 to left of entrance and 4 above, are 16-pane sashes with stone sills. Roof hipped with 2 ridge stacks. Rear: early C18 round-arched stair window. Interior: large open-well cantilevered stone staircase with turned balusters. Doors have moulded achitraves with paterae. Several C18 fireplaces with fluted friezes below mantels, and basket grates. Simple acanthus leaf cornices to some rooms.
