5/31 Topcliffe Mill
GV II
Water mill. Mid C18 and early C20. Red brick, ashlar, pantile roof. Main block of 4 storeys, 3 bays with 3-storey gabled bay to right and lower 2- storey bay breaking forward beyond. To left gable is an early C20 3-storey outshut bay. To left bay, main block has double board doors in elliptical arch, taller similar single door to right bay of main block. Two bays beyond to right have board doors below elliptical arched heads. All windows are 9-pane casements with elliptical arched heads. Ground floor has 2 between doors and one beyond to right, to main block, also similar to left bay. First floor has 3 to main block and one to left bay. Second floor has 2 to main block, one to left bay and smaller one to gabled bay to right. To third floor of main block a similar central opening with board door. On first floor of gabled bay to right a larger C20 door opening. To left bay, to left of windows a door opening with another above it. Eaves band, shaped kneelers. Stone coping. River front similar but with ashlar lower storey with race opening in a large segmental arch.
