Details
THIRKLEBY HIGH AND LOW A19 SE 47 NE WITH OSGODBY (west side, off) 4/57 Thirkleby Barugh - II Farmhouse. Mid C18 with C19 additions and later alterations. Brownish brick with coursed squared stone to rear of earlier range; pantile roof. Hearth-passage plan. Garden front: 2 storeys, 5 bays, the right bay being an addition, with rear wing behind bay 4. 6-panel door (top 2 fielded, others incised) in wood frame to bay 3 with C20 window in enlarged opening to right and C20 doorway to far right; other- wise 16-pane sashes in flush wood architraves with projecting sills, unhorned to 2 left bays and on ground floor of these bays under flat brick arches. 2-course first-floor band; eaves band. Stacks to left end, between left-hand bays, above door (rebuilt) and above bay 4. Rear: 3 right bays of stone with round-arched first-floor stair window to left of 2 bays with 4-pane sashes; C20 enlarged openings to wing. Left return: rubblestone with brick gable. Interior: former inglenook fireplace in room to left of centre now removed, the stair behind it (against rear wall); doors of 6 fielded panels.
