5/120 Winksley Hall Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse. 1704 with remains of earlier timber building, and C18 - C20 alterations. Gritstone rubble, stone slate roof. Quoins. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Blocked doorway with C20 window, centre, has finely- moulded shouldered architrave and datestone inscribed: 'WG 1704'. To its right: C20 entrance with stable door with rock-faced tooling to lintel. To left of blocked entrance: 3-light side-sliding sash with glazing bars (frame renewed) in chamfered stone surround; C20 opening of similar size to left again. To right of entrance and first floor throughout: renewed sashes with glazing bars. The eaves line is slightly higher above and to the right of the entrance. Stacks at each gable end and above the blocked doorway. Rear - ground floor centre: a 2-light and a 3-light recessed chamfered mullion window. Interior: stack and fireplace opposite entrance was rebuilt c1960. The remains of a cruck blade survives against the rear wall, ground floor left. It appears to have been sawn off at first-floor level and no other remains were seen at resurvey.
