9/71 Farm building approximately 20 metres south of Throstle Nest
GV II
Farm building, now store on ground floor and farm office on first floor. Dated 1701. Coursed squared hammer-dressed gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Quoins. East side: stable door to right with large lintel decorated with scalloped chamfer below inscription '1701 RW' in rectangular panel with external triangles. Alternate quoined jambs, those to right form quoins. Single-light recessed-chamfered window to left; C20 window under eaves. Rear (west): C20 window under eaves. Left return: large C20 casement window. Right return: external stair to first-floor board door with deep scallop-chamfered lintel. Interior: principal rafter roof trusses, the tie beams probably re-used cruck blades. Included for group value.
