House of 2 builds. Early - mid C18. Limestone rubble brought to course and
hammer-dressed limestone with pantile roof. Earlier end to north. Former
through passage now blocked. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows with change
in build to left of front door. 4-panel door in C20 timber porch with
replacement 16-pane sash beneath flat stone arch to right. 2-light
Yorkshire sashes with timber lintels to left. First floor: replacement 16-
pane sashes. Flat stone arches to right and timber lintels to left. End
and ridge stacks. Interior: the position of the ceiling beam in the main
living room is off-centre, suggesting that the passage was the result of a
later partitioning. Open string staircase with slender column-on-vase
balusters. Roof: 3 tenoned-purlin trusses, those to north probably reused
and of late C17 date. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings
Study Group Report Number 98.
