House. Probably of C17 origin or earlier, with substantial C19 and C20
rebuilding. Cruck frame, limestone rubble brought to course, Westmorland
slate roof. 3-cell hearth-passage entry. To. garden: 2 storeys, 5 first
floor windows. Half-glazed board door flanked by 3-light casements with
French door to extreme left. Wooden lintels. First floor: casement
dormers. End and ridges stacks. Interior contains two very well preserved
massive pairs of crucks, 24 feet high at apex. Padstone and lifting hole
visible at base of one cruck. Rig tree and saddle at apex. Original
bressumer to main room and some original cross beams. Spice box with
butterfly hinges to right of main fireplace.
