EASTGATE 1. 5340 (South Side ) No 118 SE 7983 2/207 II GV 2. Large house of early C19 in coursed stone with ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins. 2 storeys. Welsh slate roof with stacks at gable ends and cornice and blocking course. 3 windows, hung sashes with glazing bars, stone lintels. Bank between storeys. 2 windows to ground floor. Plinth. Portico in Roman Ionic and door of 4 fielded panels with panelled ingoes and panelled ingoes. Flanking sections to left and right of 2 storeys but lower. Left-hand section has blocking course and cornice. 1 hung sash window with glazing bars above band. Ground floor has elliptical carriage entry. Right-hand section similar, but with 1 casement window above 1 hung sash window with glazing bars, and rusticated doorway.
Nos 105 to 126 (consec), Royal Oak Public House, Employment Exchange, No 133 and Crossways Hotel form a group of which Nos 105 to 111 (consec), No 126, Royal Oak Public House and Crossways Hotel are of local interest.
