Schoolhouse; now house. 1744 on datestone; extended later; raised,
remodelled and schoolroom added c1860. Squared sandstone; schoolroom of
hammer-dressed sandstone; pantile roof with brick and stone, and brick
stacks, 1 rebuilt. Originally 2-cell, direct-entry plan, extended later to
right; schoolroom added to front left. 2-storey, single window centre
front, with 2-storey, single window extension set back to right; projecting
wing to left. Plank door in segment-arched opening to centre front, and
similar door with timber lintel to extension. 2-light, 12-pane horizontal-
sliding sashes with painted stone sills and painted timber lintels to right
of both doors, and to first floor. Datestone over centre door. End and
centre right stacks. Schoolroom wing: door of 6 recessed panels in return
front, in Tudor-arched opening on chamfered jambs beneath square, stopped
hoodmould. In gabled front, two 2-light ovolo-moulded mullion and transom
windows with square, stopped hoodmoulds. In gable apex, a recessed,
uncarved panel in round-arched, chamfered surround beneath floating cornice.
Coped gable and shaped kneelers. Gable-end stack on corbels. Rear: traces
of blocked fire window visible to centre left. Interior: room to rear of
schoolroom has exposed chamfered beams and square section joists.
