Details
FRYTON MAIN STREET SE 67 NE SE 67 SE (west side) 2/24 West Farmhouse 5/24 GV II House of several builds, probably subdivided as cottages at an earlier stage of its history. Early and mid C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Limestone rubble brought to course with some reused ashlar, pantile roof. Incoherent plan suggests earlier alterations and subdivisions. Now hallway entry with cross wing and parallel range of different builds to rear. 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, with straight joint to left of door. Half-glazed door in C20 wooden porch with 2 canted bay windows flanking a blocked doorway to left, and one similar window to right. End facade of front range built partially of very large ashlar blocks, with some mouldings, probably reused from the ruins of a medieval chapel which formerly stood in Fryton. Interior: plain main staircase of early C19 date inserted into rear parallel range. Adjoining farm buildings to rear, now converted to accommodation, not of special interest.
