FYLINGDALES FYLING PARK NZ 90 SW 11/88 Fyling Hall Lodge
- II Former lodge to Fyling Hall, now a separate property. 1842, dated on sunk lintel panel, with alterations. Vertically-tooled sandstone with carved ashlar dressings. Purple slate roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. L-plan with extruded porch; picturesque Gothic style. 1storey, 2 bays on each face. Stepped plinth all round. Entrance front shows stable-type door in gabled porch with big right kneeler. Plain boarded door in right return of porch, possibly once open. Projecting gabled left bay has former 2-light windows (lost mullion) with arms and motto PERSERVERANCE above. 1-light window in right return of this bay. All windows double-chamfered, of one or two lights (though most have lost mullions) under hollowed hoodmoulds with leafy stops. Roofs have ridged gable copings, with a step half-way up each gable, and ball finials on peaks and footstones. Left return shows central stack with 2 con- joined diagonal shafts. One window on rear elevation retains its lattice iron glazing; the others are plain casements. C020 rear extensions are not of interest.
