House. Early C16, hall house. Early C16, floored late C16 and altered C18 and C20. Roughcast and colourwashed timber frame; roof of black-glazed pantiles. 2 storeys: 2-window range. C18 4-panelled door to left in position of screens passage door. Overlight. C20 casement to right. Canted corner at south-west corner with half-glazed C20 door flanked by one C19 shop display window either side, with glazing bars. Two C20 2-light casements to first floor. Gabled roof with ridge stack to left. Late C18 2-storey rear wing fitted with 2-light metal casements and external stack. INTERIOR: mid C16 stack inserted in former screens passage to form lobby-entrance plan. Frame of heavy scantling with jowled principal posts. Former rear wall with arched brace from centre post to middle rail and blocked 2-light hollow-moulded mullioned window. Front wall with two blocked square-mullioned windows. Rebuilt brick fireplace. Stack cut through in C18 to reinstate passage. Rafter roof replaced late C18.
