Two houses. Mid C14 hall house, floored in C17 and stack inserted in former screens passage to form lobby entrance. Split into 2 houses C19 and altered late C20. Roughcast and colourwashed brick skin over timber frame. Roof of black-glazed pantiles. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 4-window range. High plinth course. 2 late C20 doors reached by flights of steps, the door to No.2 set within a plain C20 recess. Fenestration of 3-light late C20 top-hung casements. Gabled roof. Ridge stack right of centre and internal gable-end stack to east. West gable with blocked doorway in canted corner. C20 casements to each floor. 2-storey cross wing to rear with truncated gable-end stack and C20 casements. INTERIOR: timber frame of heavy scantling, with jowled principal posts. Early C17 brickwork to inserted stack with wide fireplace in former hall (ground-floor east room of No.2). In south-east corner remains of arched solar staircase door. Ground-floor west room of No.2 with mortice holes in bridging beam to take screen muntins and doorways to service rooms, the beam relocated. 2-bay crown post roof, the crown post of octagonal section with moulded base and capital. Open arched braces to crown purlin and collars.
