II

Parish church, 1838. by Chantrell with chancel 1884. Dressed stone with slate roof. Nave, west tower and short, narrow chancel. Tower of 3 stages with embattled parapet, diagonal buttresses and heavily crocketed pinnacles; south door with decorative hinges, and label with foliated stops. 2-light Gothic windows to belfry. 5-bay nave with square-headed windows each having 2 ogee-headed lights. Chancel of one bay with 3-light Perpendicular east window and gable cross. Stone gutter brackets. Interior: Aisleless, with 4 slim queen-post trusses. Stone flag floor. First 3 bays have low box pews with slight Gothic decoration, tiered at the back. Octagonal stone font in central position. Chancel arch hoodmould has label stops said to represent the Bishop of Ripon and Queen Victoria. Remaining fittings later including east window of 1884. Board in lobby records grant from the Incorporated Church Building Society.
