Details
GRASSINGTON OLD MOOR LANE SL 06 NW (west side) Yarnbury 2/24 Powder House 23.3.82 GV II Former powder store for Grassington Moor lead mines. Late C18-early C19. Gritstone rubble, roofless at time of resurvey. A small square structure, single storey, with remains of pyramid roof. Small square opening on north side. Although said to have been the explosives store for the mines the building may have been agricultural originally, the masonry being similar to that at Yarnbury House (lst 2 bays) and Yarnbury Cottage (q.v.). Ruined at time of resurvey, it is reported to have had a stone ball finial to the roof. Included for group value.
