HAWES GRUEL STREET SD 88 NE (north side) 20/123 White Hart Hotel (formerly 16.1.52 listed as White Hart Inn, Main Street) - II Hotel. C18. Coursed rubble, stone slate roof. 3 storeys, 4:2 bays. Chamfered rusticated quoins. In second bay, door of 6 fielded panels below late C17 lintel with decorative moulding. In fourth bay, door of 6 fielded panels in C18 moulded surround with paterae, frieze inscribed "WHITE HART INN" and cornice. Sash windows in ashlar surrounds, shorter on second floor. Stacks at ends and between bays 2 and 3. Bell attached to wall below second-floor window in bay 2. Rear elevation: round-arched staircase window. Interior: C18 turned-baluster staircase.
