GV II

Pigeoncote. Dated 1832. For the Duke of Northumberland. Rubble with
ashlar dressings, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 1 bay. Ashlar plinth, and
quoins with herringbone tooling with draughted margins. Moulded first-floor
sill band. Main elevation to north-west: on ground floor, board stable door
in ashlar surround with hoodmould; above it, recessed ashlar plaque
inscribed "TR"; first-floor shuttered vent in chamfered ashlar surround;
1832
hipped roof, with lead over hips; timber glover, formerly with ball finial.
South-west side: imitation board door in surround matching that already
described, first-floor vent as before. Other 2 sides have first-floor
vents. Interior: brick lining to walls, forming nest boxes on first floor.
The building is a charming affectation expressing the status of the farm
