House. c1830 with C18 origins and later c19 alterations. Dressed stone, hipped
slate roof. Double pile plan. Gable end entry. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Entrance porch
has Tuscan pilasters and entablature. Moulded surround to recessed entrance;
6 panel door, upper 2 glazed; rectangular glazed fanlight. Right-hand ground floor
and 2 upper floor windows have projecting sills and 16 pane sashes. Left-hand gable
has projecting eaves. Gable-end stacks. To right is later Cl9 bay which formerly
joined Bankwell to Parish room (q.v). One window per storey. Garden front in left-
hand return 2 storeys, 4 bays, 2 centre bays recessed. Sashes. Upper floor sill
band. Interior: C18 cellar to eastern (right-hand) part of house. Early Cl9 dog-leg
staircase, open string, turned balusters, ramped handrail. Eastern range has C18
chamfered King post roof trusses with V struts. Western range has c1830 King post
roof of machine sawn timber with V struts.
