3/13 Skeldgate and Stable End 10.9.54 - II
Formerly farmhouse and stable, now farmhouse and cottage. Dated 1695 with C20 alterations. Slobbered rubble, stone dressings, stone slate roof. Longhouse plan. Rear to street. Garden front 2 storeys, 3 bays. Right of centre entrance in c1970 porch has moulded surround and decorated basket arched lintel dated and inscribed: I D , hoodmould, c1970 door. Left-hand bay has c1970 3-light mullion window per storey. 2 former 4-light double chamfered mullioned windows per storey: 2 right- hand only have central mullion remaining, central bay has only left-hand mullion to ground floor and none to upper floor. Upper floor blind oculus with chamfered surround. Left of centre ridge and right-hand ridge stacck at former gable. Left- hand return contains external steps to former hayloft entrance, supported by reused octagonal shaft with moulded capital - possibly C15 cross-base. Porch c1970, lean- to roof. Quoin on left-hand side has carving in C17 hand: IC TC.
