A pair of cottages with eitherside animal houses with hay lofts above. Early C18
altered and enlarged early C19. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Stone slate
roof with kneelers. 2-storey. Front has a pair of doorways plain ashlar surrounds
and 2 plank doors, eitherside a single 2 light sliding sash in plain ashlar
surrounds. Beyond eitherside are single doorways to animal houses with plank doors.
Above 2 glazing bar sashes in plain ashlar surrounds, with to the left a small hay
loft opening, side gable walls also have hay loft openings with plain ashlar
surrounds. Rear front has a pair of segment headed windows, now blocked, in plain
ashlar surrounds, and above 2 small windows also with plain ashlar surrounds.
Interior contains 2 fireplaces with plain ashlar surrounds and brackets supporting
stone bressemer, and 2 stone spiral staircases. These cottages were used by lead
workers during the C19.
