AUSTWICK WHARFE SD 76 NE 8/38 The Manor House 20.2.58 GV II House. Dated 1715 with C20 alterations. Slobbered rubble, stone dressings, squared rubble to porch, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Gabled central 2-storey entrance porch has entrance right of centre with chamfered surround and decorated lintel dated and inscribed W E with a heart between the initials; slate hood moulds. C20 plank door. To left is small ground floor chamfered window. Upper storey projects about 20 cm and is supported on a course of thick slate; upper floor tall 2-light flat-faced mullioned window. Triangular arrange- ment of pigeon holes in gable. Left-hand ground floor 2-light double chamfered mullioned window, slate drip mould and similar window above. Right-hand ground floor 3-light double chamfered mullioned window, slate dripmould and similar but 2-light window above. All windows have C20 casements or fixed lights. Massive right-hand gable end projecting stepped chimney stack with small fire window. Interior: massive segmental arched stone fireplace in front right room.
