5/66 Fir Trees Farmhouse 11.11.1966 II

Farmhouse, C17, altered. Handmade brick (front roughcast), slate roof with brick chimney stack. Three-bay baffle-entry plan, with projecting porch-cum-stairturret in line with chimneystack at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays. Two storeys; continuous dripcourse carried round porch; 2-storey gabled porch has doorway offset left with hollow-moulded stone surround including large shaped lintel (no lettering), a peep window on each floor of left side; 3 windows on each floor, all horizontal rectangular, altered as 3-light casements. Barn continuing to left is not included in the item. Rear of less interest. Interior: housepart in 2nd bay and former kitchen in 3rd bay have large back-to-back inglenook fireplaces with chamfered bressummers, and matching beams with cyma stops; dogleg staircase with closed string and moulded handrail (balusters panelled over).
