Brook Cottage

II
Farmhouse, dated 1769 at 1st floor, extended in earlier C19, now house. Coursed sandstone rubble, the earlier with quoins, slate roof on 2 levels, with chimneys at all gables. Double-depth plan, 2 plus 2 bays. Two storeys; the earlier building, gable to road, is almost symmetrical, with a blocked doorway offset left of centre, 2 square windows on each floor, a datestone at 1st floor above the door, inscribed C J A 1769 and a moulded gutter cornice. The extension to the right is higher, has a panelled door and semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars in a Tuscan architrave, a 4-pane sash to the right and 2 others above, and a moulded gutter cornice. Addition to the rear appears to be of less interest.
