Details
GRESSINGHAM SD 56 NE 7/88 Sandbeds Farmhouse 4-10-1967 II
House, c.1700, altered. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. T-plan. 2 storeys. Front, altered early C20th, of 3 bays. Windows sashed, with glazing bars in their upper halves. All have plain reveals, those on the ground floor having paired sashes separated by a rendered mullion. The door, in the central bay, has a moulded surround with shaped lintel. Gable chimneys. The rear wing retains some original windows. Its north-east wall has 2 bays with chamfered or rebated and chamfered windows, those to the left-hand bay retaining mullions, and with a drip course. The south-west wall has similar windows: one of 2 lights with a single light above, both lighting the stairs, and one of 3 lights on the 1st floor. Interior has a chamfered shouldered fireplace,and an open-well stair of c.1700, with closed string and turned balusters.
